A huge congratulations to our Year 8 Future Business Magnates who were awarded 2nd place in the prestigious competition, beating 12 other schools within County Durham at the Awards Celebration 2026 held at Hardwick Hall Hotel on Friday 26th June.

The students were presented with £750 prize money for the school, £35 high street vouchers each, certificates and a trophy. Students thoroughly enjoyed their night with key guests including Durham County Council Vice Chair, Councillor Jackie Teasdale, Compere Charlie Charlton and entertainment by magicians Graeme Shaw and Kris Rubens.

The students have worked incredibly hard since the launch of the competition in October, developing their enterprise skills and business acumen thanks to the interactive, hands-on workshops and the unwavering support of our business partner David Johnson from Marmax Products. Their final product, an educational card game called “This or That” drew inspiration from the heritage and culture of County Durham and proved to be extremely entertaining.
