We recently surveyed parents and carers about our remote education offering. Key findings are:
The vast majority (97%) are happy with the remote education provision and 92% are confident that their child is learning while at home.
94% told us that the work set for their child is at the right level of challenge and 92% agree that it was the right amount.
The vast majority of parents and carers praised the school for their dedication and efforts to make sure their children are still learning while at home.
95% think that students sticking to their normal timetable is the right decision and 90% stated that they are happy with every lesson being taught over a live Google Meet.
Here's some of the lovely things our parents had to say:
"Doing a great job."
"School starts at our kitchen table at 8.40 each morning. The teachers have adapted their teaching and in some instances, the timing of the element of the curriculum taught, to fit the way home learning best works. I can hear enthusiasm, (lots of) patience, praise and professionalism from teachers throughout the day. In addition, I have received excellent support through Pastoral teaching and 'The Link' staff, which has ensured our SEND plan is appropriate and functioning. This process is still following the usual yearly timetable! Then, unbelievably, there is also a Wednesday chess club, a weekly session/group lesson from the Autism peripatetic support and a guitar lesson, live online each Friday. Thank you for this excellent undertakingand your hard work."
"You are all doing an amazing job. My children are not missing out on any education in my opinion. Thank you Tanfield School."
"We could not ask for more from the school, staff have gone above and beyond to ensure that the students are learning and also find the time to check on their well-being. As parents, we have been kept up to date with Daniel’s progress during a virtual parents evening which was excellent and with developments in the exam situation through prompt, regular letters as the situation develops. The proactive approach taken by the school to this ever changing situation has really helped Daniel to maintain some kind of normal by providing a routine. Thank you also for the prompt response to the issue raised following parents evening."
"Fantastic home schooling experience so far, all lessons well prepared and I don't feel as if my child is missing out being at home. Thank you."
"Outstanding remote learning way above other schools standards, the communication has been second to none. An amazing effort from everyone involved. Well done Team Tanfield you should all be very proud of yourselves."
"Thank you for all of your hard work you help with your students."
"I’m very happy with the help and support Chloe receives, during this difficult time. Well done team Tanfield this is a reflection of your hard work and care. Thank you for all you do."
"Mr Davison has been fantastic in ensuring that we have known what to do to ensure Patrick continues to learn. Thanks to him and all of the team."
"Couldnt be happier!"
"I'm extremely grateful to the Tanfield staff who have provided such high quality education through both lockdowns."
"The live lessons are a fantastic way to engage the children and from what I have observed, believe the quality of the teaching has been very good so far!"
"Teachers make great efforts to contact parents when Dylan is working from home."
"In my opinion the school has done an excellent job in providing remote learning in trying circumstances and with little notice."
"Outstanding support from the school to ensure my daughter is prepared for her GCSEs this year. The daily incentives to encourage pupils to attend all lessons is a great idea too."
"Excellent, head of year checks in all the time with me."
"Well done for providing the online learning which follows the normal timetable, this is so much better than just providing work for pupils to complete like so many other schools are offering."
"I am happy with the remote learning and the work the school has done to make sure pupils are engaged in their studies which is particularly important for my son in his final year. Well done Tanfield."
"I think the support that the children are receiving from teachers is excellent."
"Thank you for all that you are doing at such a vital time in a year 11’s school life. When the world turned mad you have helped ease the worrying of our children missing out at such an important time."
