At Tanfield School, we have high expectations. We aim for all students to achieve the knowledge that they need to progress to sixth form then University, or a high quality alternative, so that they can have the career of their dreams and a happy life. Homework is an important part of this journey.
Here is an overview of the regular homeworks that are set. Additional tasks may also be set occasionally. Homework is designed to embed knowledge in long term memory or support preparation for examinations. Tasks may also be an extension of the learning in class.
Please support your child in their organisation of this work. It is helpful if they have a quiet work area away from distractions and a routine for completing homework. Some of the tasks require computer access. There are computers in school should this not be possible at home.
*Friday review: students review their week: class work, homework quiz scores, the morning quizzing and their Look, Cover, Write and Check to identify areas for improvement. Students then use quizzing, Mind maps, Look, Cover, Write and Check to focus on closing knowledge and application gaps.
