Today, we welcomed Y5 students from Burnopfield Primary School and East Stanley Primary School for a carousel of learning linked to Remembrance Day. In History with Mr Hume, Y5 explored the origin of the poppy and learned about some of the soldiers' experiences in WW1. In English with Mrs Bell, students created an emotive cinquain poem that complemented the beautiful watercolour paintings they produced in Art with Mrs Tones. Pupils also participated in our Remembrance Day service and observed as our students and members of the school community paid their respects to those that fought and lost their lives in the war. We ended a truly fantastic day in the hall where Mrs Johnson and Mr Clough led a celebration showcasing the magnificent work that students had created. Thank you for being fantastic participants Year 5!
