On Friday 5th December we were honoured to host Bridget Phillipson, the Secretary of State for Education, Kim McGuinness, the Mayor of the North East and our local MP Luke Akehurst.
We were exceptionally proud to read how impressed Bridget Phillipson was when she was quoted in the Northern Echo saying: “Today I’ve been in Tanfield School, which has a brilliant story to tell in terms of the turnaround they have delivered. High academic standards alongside a real, broad and rich curriculum for the students. I think it’s a great example of what can be achieved in schools and there are some national lessons we can learn here from Tanfield.”
